The night before he is to leave, Hawkins and his men find Clare and her husband Aidan trying to run away. It follows in the tradition of The Nightingale, being about independent women trying to survive difficult circumstances. The novel revolves around a family who moves to Alaska to live off the grid and find some peace and freedom, but once winter comes, it becomes all about survival with no one around to help them. Like that film, The Great Alone will be produced by Elizabeth Cantillon of the Cantillon Company with Laura Quicksiver.
